Michael B Jordan is amongst a partnership that has completed their takeover of AFC Bournemouth, the Premier League club have confirmed.

The consortium are the majority owners after previous chairman Maxim Denim sold a 100 per cent stake in the club. The deal was led by American businessman Bill Foley.

Maxim leaves after 11 years of ownership in which he saw the club promoted from League One to the top flight in the space of a five-year period.

Bill Foley will take on the role of chairman at the Cherries and has promised to provide “the investment to sustain and build upon Bournemouth’s recent accomplishment”.

“I have tremendous respect for the passion and support the Bournemouth community shows for this club and believe that connection to the community is the foundation for success of any sports team,” the 77-year-old told the club’s website.

“We will move forward with an ‘always advance, never retreat’ approach that has defined all of my endeavours.

I am committed to work with the best football and business minds available to enhance player development, facilities, and the fan experience to put AFC Bournemouth in the best possible position to succeed.”
