Davis’ incredible journey in the industry began in the late 1980s, but it was her role in the 2005 film “Doubt” that brought her to the forefront. Throughout her career, Davis has given standout performances in films like “Eat Pray Love,” “The Help,” and “Prisoners,” but it was her role as Annalise Keating in the hit series “How to Get Away with Murder” that truly launched her into the stratosphere.

Recently, Davis won a Grammy Award for “Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording” for the audiobook of her memoir “Finding Me.” This win added to her already impressive collection of awards, including an Emmy for her role in “How to Get Away with Murder,” an Oscar for “Fences,” and two Tony Awards for “King Hedley III” and “Fences.”

In her acceptance speech, Davis paid tribute to her younger self and honoured her life journey, including the joys and traumas she has experienced. She also expressed gratitude to those who have supported her throughout her career.

Davis’ career has been studded with awards and milestones, making her an inspiration to aspiring performers everywhere. In 2015, she became the first Black woman to win an Emmy for best actress in a drama and in 2017, she became the first Black woman to score three Academy Award nominations. Her EGOT win is a testament to her incredible talent, hard work, and perseverance.
