Amber settles her defamation case against ex-Husband Johnny Depp.

In a statement on Instagram, Heard said that she made the “difficult” decision to settle the case, which was not an “act of concession.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Earlier this month, Heard had filed an appeal in the case, requesting either a reversal of the jury’s verdict or a new trial.

However, she stated that she had lost faith in the American legal system and did not want to go through another trial.

But in her statement on Monday, the actress said she had made the choice to settle “having lost faith in the American legal system”.

“Even if my US appeal is successful, the best outcome would be a retrial,” she said. “I simply cannot go through that.”

The defamation case centered around an article in which Heard claimed to be a victim of abuse by Depp.

The six-week trial, which featured both parties presenting conflicting accounts of their relationship and accusing each other of abuse and misbehavior, ended with the jury mostly siding with Depp and awarding him $15 million in damages.

The verdict surprised some legal experts, especially as it followed Mr Depp’s loss in a similar case in the UK two years ago.
